NEW: Platformer has obtained the dehumanizing new guidelines moderating what people can now say about trans people on Facebook and Instagram. Employees tell me these changes are likely to inspire more violence against LGBT people: www.platformer.news/meta-new-tra...
the "esc" key on a keyboard is a holdover from early-'90s personal computers. on some models it would dispense a can of escargot out of one of the unused drive bays. they put it in the corner so you wouldn't press it by accident because you only got three of them. i pushed it once and got grounded

A lot of people will criticize for visiting trump. Don't. Imo, the best way to win voters is to do all you can to represent your constituents first. Your party last. Voters want results. If he can use Trump to get that. Amen.
The weekend's in sight... Happy

Just wild to think back how 15 years ago it was a massive cost and headache to figure out how to have source control and code reviews. Today, the answer is obvious: GitHub How GitHub solved a massive pain point plus won in a competitive industry is nothing short of incredible
My own opinion is that it's good to signal (through words and/or actions) the virtues that you value; that's one of the most important parts of maintaining a healthy community.
Attempted to demonstrate my modular synth to my parents and couldnt even make the drum machine make a drum noise.
I refrain from posting swag on principle, but this is just too cute
Just saw a no-longer relevant evacuation notice on instagram from five hours ago and remembered — that’s right, due to hyper-monetization every major social network no longer shows you life-saving breaking news as it happens. They turned it over to an algorithm that finally noticed “he likes fire.”

Have been on Bluesky quite a bit the last two days (for info & resources) & it’s not social media that’s broken. I think it’s us that’s broken now. I’ll post about places ppl can donate because LA is in bad shape & my replies are full of “ummmm sounds like somebody’s never heard of Pompeii.”
Noticed a little blood in the snow under my bird feeders, hoped I was feeding the neighborhood hawks and not cats or something. The cardinals were really upset this morning, in the dark I didn’t realize why until she swooped down— my neighbor Barred Owl hunting House Sparrows at the feeders!
Big launch today, wish me luck 🫡
I love and really enjoy the community here. My one gripe is that I wish there were better tools (or any tools at all really) for filtering notifications. It makes it hard for me to engage with people bc my notifications are just a firehose with no way to filter them.
the all but official position of the republican party is that voting for democrats disqualifies you from federal disaster assistance
Rep. Warren Davidson on California federal disaster relief: "If they want the money, then there should be consequences where they have to change their policies ... CA wants the money without changing the policies that are making the problem worse & I don't see how Rs could possibly support that."
