Lord knows I’m not a constitutional scholar not even a lawyer (and I’ve yet to check in with ) but a legal regime in which “you can do crimes if you’re buddies with the president or praise him publicly” is *on its face* a violation the equal protection of the laws.
Is there anyone out there that is mapping any delayed or cancelled federal payments ? Would be really interesting to see which towns and cities are going to be hit

The AMA has a YouTube page where you can catch up on all the fun, ongoing TB & bird flu outbreaks, since the CDC is no longer allowed to do that: youtube.com/watch?v=HlPB...
I referenced this the other day at an event and got the sense that most people had never heard of it, but looking to be ahead of its time!

What. A. Guy.
(Spoiler alert: he’s lying)
I recently turned 60 years old.
Seems impossibly ancient.
And yet. Even now, I find I can still learn new things.
For example:
It’s Jemaine Clement, not Jermaine.
Playing D&D with friends and inevitably we talk politics a bit.

Thank you Meta for finally addressing my biggest problem with your apps (they protect my privacy too much)
A memo at Meta states privacy teams will have less authority to delay products and previous privacy decisions will be reviewed, as some are overly "risk-averse" (Kalley Huang/The Information)

On Threads, I started to become convinced I was shadowbanned given how little engagement my posts were getting.
Here, I pretty often think “ok, this one is a little *too* popular, how do I turn it off??”

OK, why not, transit wonk thread.
In a huge metro area like Chicagoland, transit exists (and lots of it is great!) but for the suburbs, it really only caters to an old kind of commuting.
Even if people are willing to transfer from Metra to the L to get elsewhere downtown - that's still downtown.
And even in my case, where I'm leasing an office of my own accord, the kind of office I want would, if it were close to the train station downtown, would be ridiculously expensive.
So my car expenses actually save me some money. This is a problem.
Anyone ever get reader's block? Just can't finish any book that they start?
