This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

I see your point, but I really think this is just extra complexity on top of a simple logical "or" fallback. Saying `const foo = getMean([]) || 'fallback value'` is simpler and just as configurable.
