This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

I have opinions on this :)
FWIW I get what you're saying in that "the state mgmt is left to the reader to implement", etc. Also agree "React is an inadequate state mgmt system itself".
Sync systems are certainly valuable and probably under-used, but I don't think they're a blanket solution.
