Cracking the Cryptic’s “Who’s afraid of 13” (Aad van de Wetering) puzzle solve has a great mirror rule. At 19:40 I think applying Sudoku on the 1s digits gets you a 1 in box 1, and a mirrored 9 in box 9, avoiding most of the pencilmarking.
