This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

I think this is true of professional software engineering in general—particularly in the age of the non-technical product manager. A substantial amount of my job at this point involves responding to constantly shifting requirements while trying to maintain some semblance of sanity in the code.
