what we have had is a rapidly swinging pendulum. from 1930 to 1994 Dems controlled House for all but 4 years, from 94 until 06 GOP controlled House for 12 years. Since then it has been 4 Dems, 4 GOP, 4 Dems, 4 (so far) GOP, in WH after Obama it was Trump 1 term, Biden 1, Trump second, no 8 or so
