Interesting idea! I'd separate the concepts of chain-of-thought (and generally, inference-time scaling) from the UX needs.
The chain of thought is literally required to produce the result (see the original paper arxiv.org/pdf/2201.11903). So the thoughts must exist as an implementation detail.
