This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

When getting started on a new app, do you comprehensively plan it out or just start banging away to see what comes out the other side?
I'm more the latter - and I feel it's helped me for when I do need to plan.
