This is the most distant massive quiescent galaxy known, seen just 700 megayears after the Big Bang.
With ALMA+JWST, Valentino, Pensabene et al. found gas on scales much larger than the galaxy itself.
Yet the galaxy has formed almost no new stars for about 100 megayears.
