This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

That's the key thing. Unlike a lot of sequels (esp. shows geared towards teens or adults only), the primary audience for this show is the new audience. So we don't want to overwhelm them with too many things that are from past storylines right off the bat.
