phoenix, az has an average high temp in July of 106F. Minneapolis has a low temp in Jan of 7F. if livable temps are ~60F-80F, it is 50% more energy intensive to heat Minneapolis to heat Minneapolis than to cool Phoenix.
And climate change is making the problem worse in *both* places!
