This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

I think one thing about TV shows and movies for kids is that kids won't be bothered by occasional jokes that are there for the parents / an older audience, particularly given a good pace.
And if they DO get those jokes, they already had the necessary knowledge, and might feel smart about it.
