For non-techies curious about custom feeds, I highly recommend trying @blueskyfeedcreator.com. Not only has the developer been SO helpful w/ #KidLitMegaFeed but has EXCELLENT user documentation (a must for me).
You can try making a custom feed without publishing it, safe & easy way to expt/learn.
