When a poor CAP reform is on the table which defends the worst parts while cutting on what works, not much is left to save. Interestingly, I hear the wish to cancel the CAP mostly from AfD members, whereas most stakeholders we meet do prefer a CAP that works - for people, nature and healthy food. When people say ''I have lots of butterflies in my garden'', it's useful to get a quantitative estimate, in a standardized way. Example: At friends' garden (Alps near Granoble) I counted >50 individuals, 8 spp in a 15 minute count. Try the ButterflyCount app, you can now register sites too!

It's always a joy to meet good friends, both humans and non-humans, in nature. Here's one of my favourite, the Chalkhill Blue (Lysandra coridon, Silbergrüne Bläuling). Rare in many parts of Germany, but abundant in the Alps.

Was Merz hier sagt, ist: 1) Die Wirtschaft ist wichtiger als das Leben von (Tausenden von) Menschen. 2) „Klimawandel“ gibt es nicht (offensichtlich, vermeidet er diesen Begriff) und die Klimawandel zu vermeiden kommt nicht in Frage. At #ECCB2026 we speak with concern about #FoodSecurity due to heat, droughts, pollinators' loss, soil erosion, etc. Meanwhile at X, DG Agri happily anounces a promising year for... oilseed, dairy, pigmeat, poultry. @ec.europa.eu didn't u shout food security? Can't u take your own claims seriously?

When politicians and policies fail, i.e. when upscaling of solutions is impossible, outscaling is an excellent alternative - namely replicating what works, instead of awaiting someone else to help.
