I invented the scroll lock key, directed the hit film Princess Mononoke and played Scotty in the original Star Trek. I'm also one of them there streamists! https://www.twitch.tv/alastairft Read my ""web" "comic"": https://maryelestia.webcomic.ws/https://bsky.app/profile/alastairft.bsky.socialhttps://bsky.app/profile/alastairft.bsky.social/post/3mxa5rr7a3k2yWhat I like about the current run of Star Wars games is that they're doing what the modern movies and shows refuse to, which is take outside inspiration. Star Wars has always been a grab-bag of, shall we say, liberally referenced ideas; it falters when the only inspiration is other Star Wars.06 Oct 2026 19:23 +0000at://did:plc:5kcliyleeruxfgfb7kfxvh7j/app.bsky.feed.post/3mxa5rr7a3k2yhttps://bsky.app/profile/alastairft.bsky.social/post/3mxa34wwg4k2wI've been away from streaming for longer than I'd hoped but, tomorrow, I think I'll finally be able to get back to it. Please FIZZ with excitement.06 Oct 2026 18:36 +0000at://did:plc:5kcliyleeruxfgfb7kfxvh7j/app.bsky.feed.post/3mxa34wwg4k2whttps://bsky.app/profile/alastairft.bsky.social/post/3mx6533vlt22gTrying to decide quite when I should play Metal Gear Rising. It's a spin-off so maybe I'll leave it for last, but it's pretty much seen as a main entry anyway so, maybe I'll stick it after Peace Walker in the interests of doing the series in production order.06 Oct 2026 00:05 +0000at://did:plc:5kcliyleeruxfgfb7kfxvh7j/app.bsky.feed.post/3mx6533vlt22ghttps://bsky.app/profile/alastairft.bsky.social/post/3mtz6iyrgzs2oWith MGS Master Collection vol 2 coming out, I'm starting my long-planned playthrough of the entire series, starting with the original MSX game, which I've never really played outside of the first few screens.26 Aug 2026 20:32 +0000at://did:plc:5kcliyleeruxfgfb7kfxvh7j/app.bsky.feed.post/3mtz6iyrgzs2ohttps://bsky.app/profile/alastairft.bsky.social/post/3mx5xpanpck2dIt's funny to me that the marketing for Wildwood has absolutely zeroed in on it being a spiritual successor to Coraline. Nary a mention of Kubo or Missing Link. I wonder if it's because it fills the same sort of niche or because Coraline was one of the studio's only movies that actually made money.05 Oct 2026 22:29 +0000at://did:plc:5kcliyleeruxfgfb7kfxvh7j/app.bsky.feed.post/3mx5xpanpck2dhttps://bsky.app/profile/alastairft.bsky.social/post/3mx3lfctwd22mStrange New Worlds is a really lavish show, but between the pointless cinematic aspect ratio, the heavy vignetting, edge blurring and overly dark colour correction, they just crush all the detail. Basically, there's an oval in the middle of the shot that's actually in focus, but otherwise it's mush.04 Oct 2026 23:43 +0000at://did:plc:5kcliyleeruxfgfb7kfxvh7j/app.bsky.feed.post/3mx3lfctwd22mhttps://bsky.app/profile/alastairft.bsky.social/post/3mx2xxx7nis2zThere's never been a magic school story that adequately explained or showed what practical application magic education has.
