A fun hornpipe I got from L.E. McCullough's Irish Tin Whistle Tutor a long time ago. He learned it from Terry Teahan, a Chicago-based button accordion player.

A very pretty jig I learned from Shannon Heaton. Written by Tommy Whelan, who was a Galway flute player in the Ballinakill band (along with Eddie Moloney!).

I made a crafty thing. Im better at sewing buttons now.

I love this polka, and I love the album it comes from (The Branch Line)! I'm working to incorporate some of Jack and Father Charlie Coen's (sons of Mike Coen) flute playing style. They were a Galway-based musical family.

Here's a nice Irish reel written by Martin Mulhaire (1936-2020). Not uncommon to hear in sessions.

This is an old (at least 19th century!) 5-part jig named after a promontory in County Waterford, Ireland.

Been in a patching-clothing mood. Esper is ok with this.

I love seeing art on here, but am never sure whether something is generative AI or not. Sure, someone can SAY it is or isn’t. But i don’t have the skill of telling. Ugh.

One of my favorite Irish reels: Woman of the House. First recorded by Peter Conlon in 1923 from what I can find (it's likely quite a bit older than that, though!).

Violin construction and repair school is quite fun, I must say.

A Wife of my Own, a Scottish (!) slip jig I learned from a fiddling friend when I was in grad school. Yes, I will occasionally stray outside Irish if the melody is good enough.

This tune is apparently more than 200 years old! Redican's Mother, an Irish slip jig.

Frog on my patio. Just thought i would share <3

Here's another Irish tune for you! A jig called "The Nightengale", written of Sean Ryan. Learned from a fiddling friend!

3 year HRT anniversary!!! Yay!

25 Aug 2026 02:09 +0000

This reel is a lot of fun. I tend to play it a little more on the "delicate" side. Don't know how much that comes through, of course.

Neighborhoods without sidewalks. Not a fan.

Sporting Pitchfork, another Irish jig. I'm back at it after getting mostly unpacked! Hope you enjoy!

Our townhome property management has a sprinkler set up to spray right at face height when standing on our back patio in the evening. Neither me nor my dogs appreciated that. *sigh*

Just moved back to the midwest from the Southwest. Ah humidity, my old friend….

29 Jul 2026 17:53 +0000

Esper sure likes moving. Or at least moving prep.

29 Jul 2026 16:36 +0000

Moving is HARD. That is all.

28 Jul 2026 01:47 +0000

Listowel Hornipipe (or Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine), a nice little hornpipe I learned from L.E. McCullough's Irish Tin whistle Tutor a long time ago.

18 Jul 2026 18:57 +0000

Another Irish reel! Ahri (my cat) seems to like this tune...Bird in the Bush!

18 Jul 2026 15:26 +0000

Since I was a child, I had one burning question: why does the shellder on slowbro’s tail look NOTHING like a shellder? Pokédex entries on indicate they did not answer this until gen 7. It metamorphosed into this form to suck more sweetness from the tail. I am definitely neurotypical.

Is it bad that the main reason i sometimes forego the oxford comma is just to annoy people who use the oxford comma?

14 Jul 2026 01:46 +0000

Another tune, this time a jig! Surprise cameo from Yoshi near the end, too.

07 Jul 2026 03:54 +0000

"Drunken Landlady", an Irish Reel in Em I learned several years ago from a tenor-banjo playing friend. The tune name makes me think there's a story somewhere in there...

Playing Irish music as an American is interesting. Like on twitch when i stream sometimes i’ll get the “Oh, you’re not Irish” as soon as I speak, haha!
