I really hope these are not just exceptions to the rule and we return to waiting years for each Falcom title. Kyoto Xanadu's situation isn't giving me a lot of confidence. 😅

[contains quote post or other embedded content]

The other night I finished the demo for Return to Zeroes (sequel to Return to Shironagasu Island) and it left me excited to play the full game. The time-travel concept is intriguing and the new characters seem zany. Overall, it just feels a lot more confident and polished compared to Shironagasu.

There was something oddly comforting about the fact that MangaGamer's website never changed. Until now, the site pretty much looked exactly like it did when I first discovered visual novels back in the early 2010s. Kind of sad to see it go.

[contains quote post or other embedded content]

I wonder how many Japanese adventure games have a segment where you disarm a bomb? Return to Shironagasu Island had a scene like this. Policenauts famously has you defuse a bomb, which in turn was inspired by a similar moment in Nostalgia 1907. There is even an ADV on the DS all about bomb disposal.

NHK World also made an incredible documentary about Aoyama Gosho in 2024 that focuses more on the author's process for creating the Detective Conan manga. The episode is no longer available on NHK's official website but it has been re-uploaded to the Internet Archive.
https://archive.org/details/the-professionals-behind-the-scenes-detective-conan-aoyama-gosho-manga-artist

[contains quote post or other embedded content]

One of my favorite anime related memories was seeing the finale to G Gundam as a kid. I recorded the last 2-4 episodes off Toonami using our VCR timer and watched it later with my siblings on the main TV. My parents were out that night so we got super rowdy and ate a ton of frozen pizza. Good times.

[contains quote post or other embedded content]

I was reading this Steam post from the team translating Return to Zeroes (the sequel to Return to Shironagasu Island) and I like this localization choice they are making for the English release. Reminds me of The Great Ace Attorney, where the characters would use honorifics when they were in Japan.

This is a great list of some modern classics in the adventure genre. The story takes some turns but I actually enjoyed my time with it overall. Now I'm very curious about checking out the demo for the upcoming sequel, Return to Zeroes.

[contains quote post or other embedded content]
