As I type this, Godzilla Minus Zero is screening in Hungarian theaters, the first time a Japanese Godzilla film has made it to the big screen here since 1988. But of course we couldn't go because the car is busted.03 Nov 2026 18:23 +0000at://did:plc:mgoixmxvondpthvf76fs5foh/app.bsky.feed.post/3mzghhvihys2shttps://bsky.app/profile/vrahno.bsky.social/post/3mz4dvkuizk2uFucking classy. Cinema City Hungary promoting Godzilla Minus Zero's merch with an overused Hungarian porn meme. Looks like it won't be dubbed. Pretty odd, considering Hungary is a dubbing nation. This means Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla still remains the only Hungarian-dubbed Japanese Godzilla film to be ever shown in theaters.13 Oct 2026 02:45 +0000at://did:plc:mgoixmxvondpthvf76fs5foh/app.bsky.feed.post/3mxpzbzomxs2lhttps://bsky.app/profile/vrahno.bsky.social/post/3mxpqofr7cs2wOf the six main Toa in Bionicle 3: Web of Shadows, Vakama and Matau take all the spotlight. Their chief quirk is having only one hand, with the other mutated into a tool. They also have extra arm joints. These don't line up with the main canon, where the Toa have two hands and hold two tools.09 Oct 2026 23:49 +0000at://did:plc:mgoixmxvondpthvf76fs5foh/app.bsky.feed.post/3mxi627yxu224https://bsky.app/profile/vrahno.bsky.social/post/3mwydj3h73s2gThread #1 on the Toa Hordika's movie designs from Bionicle 3: Web of Shadows. Instead of one being an upper-class Steltian who lied his way into the Makuta Brotherhood's high ranks and the other a traitorous Vortixx from Xia, they were both unique beings created by the Makuta.27 Sep 2026 12:31 +0000at://did:plc:mgoixmxvondpthvf76fs5foh/app.bsky.feed.post/3mwiskx4wws2dhttps://bsky.app/profile/vrahno.bsky.social/post/3mwifpizry22wMany plots in Bionicle tend to either ignore or write around powers described in additional materials to make certain characters weaker for the sake of the narrative. Makuta's defeat in Legends of Metru Nui is a good example, making one of the most OP characters look like a chump.27 Sep 2026 08:41 +0000at://did:plc:mgoixmxvondpthvf76fs5foh/app.bsky.feed.post/3mwifpizry22whttps://bsky.app/profile/vrahno.bsky.social/post/3mwglbug2322nPosting about the Bionicle films, eventually I'd have to touch on the whole "love isn't canon" debate that fan discourse still can't shake off. Since the plot in Web of Shadows revolves around a marriage and production materials reference romances, it's a frequent target of the debate.26 Sep 2026 15:16 +0000at://did:plc:mgoixmxvondpthvf76fs5foh/app.bsky.feed.post/3mwglbug2322nhttps://bsky.app/profile/vrahno.bsky.social/post/3mvlrsw2lek27Thread on Roodaka's film design, aka "Alien meets Lady Macbeth" or "the Bionicle with boobs", whose toy inspired many copycat fan models. Early scripts describe them laughing, revealing to Vakama that they have been watching him for some time, explaining how Roodaka knows his name and his plight. When the Toa get mad at Vakama for his plan to find the Great Disks, Nokama acts completely out of character and gets angry too... when she was the one who convinced them to follow Vakama's plan in the first place. This doesn't impact the film's plot but it causes a minor inconsistency. I used to think this was due to the film being written before the rest of the story, but it's more complicated.22 Jul 2026 23:53 +0000at://did:plc:mgoixmxvondpthvf76fs5foh/app.bsky.feed.post/3mrbjfpkebk2khttps://bsky.app/profile/vrahno.bsky.social/post/3mqq6i3dk2k2mThis not a criticism of Bionicle, but it was always strange to me that the leader of the spider army was just some guy with zero spider design motifs because Lego had already used an arthropod-like villain design for an unrelated character a year earlier.16 Jul 2026 02:22 +0000at://did:plc:mgoixmxvondpthvf76fs5foh/app.bsky.feed.post/3mqq6i3dk2k2m
