Final year PhD student in the Marine Behavioural Ecology Group studying #sensory and #social #behaviour in invasive lionfish @ #UniversityofCambridgehttps://bsky.app/profile/roxybholmes.bsky.socialhttps://bsky.app/profile/roxybholmes.bsky.social/post/3lpz4f5klq22r🚨Our new paper is out now in Biological Invasions. Using a #citizen_science approach, we find correlations between #invasive #lionfish abundance, the length of time invaded, and human #hunting pressure in the western #Atlantic and #Caribbean Sea. https://doi.org/10.1007/s10530-025-03596-325 May 2025 16:47 +0000at://did:plc:rcdxd6xcwet6d4tbil3fenud/app.bsky.feed.post/3lpz4f5klq22rhttps://bsky.app/profile/roxybholmes.bsky.social/post/3lpcel7ln2k2iAn interesting day spent at the 1st European #Lionfish Conference in Crete and a great visit to the aquarium and HCMR.Thanks @kotrschal.bsky.social for organising.16 May 2025 15:42 +0000at://did:plc:rcdxd6xcwet6d4tbil3fenud/app.bsky.feed.post/3lpcel7ln2k2ihttps://bsky.app/profile/roxybholmes.bsky.social/post/3lp3746z4hc2y🚨 Our new paper is out now in Ethology. Here we show that #lionfish show social attraction to conspecifics when selecting shelters. http://doi.org/10.1111/eth.1357513 May 2025 19:16 +0000at://did:plc:rcdxd6xcwet6d4tbil3fenud/app.bsky.feed.post/3lp3746z4hc2yhttps://bsky.app/profile/roxybholmes.bsky.social/post/3lciomqffbc2z🚨Excited that the first chapter from my PhD is now out in Marine Biology. Here we show that #lionfish do not show any directional preferences for ambient #soundscapes during diurnal hours. 🔗link.springer.com/article/10.100… 🧵A thread to find out more:04 Dec 2024 17:31 +0000at://did:plc:rcdxd6xcwet6d4tbil3fenud/app.bsky.feed.post/3lciomqffbc2z
