Well worth the 5 minutes to help ensure public health bodies have robust data. But practically-speaking (esp for big cities), it’s more complicated than that. Keep an eye on the COPE bloc in Vancouver, as they could be very influential over the next 4 years #BCPoli #VanPoli [contains quote post or other embedded content]25 Oct 2026 06:55 +0000at://did:plc:trfxovll66637th2fpmsobad/app.bsky.feed.post/3myomsqxn722chttps://bsky.app/profile/hanoomansingh.com/post/3myomkupas22cI want to come back to this because I think FPTP gives people brain worms: the electorate gave the NDP a slim majority in 2024; it was Eby’s job to figure out how to work within that. Instead, he called a snap election, hoping to strong-arm voters into giving them a greater majority. #BCPoli [contains quote post or other embedded content]25 Oct 2026 06:50 +0000at://did:plc:trfxovll66637th2fpmsobad/app.bsky.feed.post/3myomkupas22chttps://bsky.app/profile/hanoomansingh.com/post/3myol4oc75c2cThis is it. It’s going to be a long four years... - Deny consent: protest, civil disobedience, push municipal govts to oppose the province - Tie the province up in court: just keep them from putting points on the board. - Donate: we gotta help lift each other out, because this govt won’t #BCPoli [contains quote post or other embedded content]25 Oct 2026 06:24 +0000at://did:plc:trfxovll66637th2fpmsobad/app.bsky.feed.post/3myol4oc75c2chttps://bsky.app/profile/hanoomansingh.com/post/3mygjhoxims2jHuge respect to referee Michael Venne for making this call. There is a pervasive culture in which govt agencies do not believe that citizens have a right to access information. #CanPoli #BCPoli [contains quote post or other embedded content]21 Oct 2026 15:32 +0000at://did:plc:trfxovll66637th2fpmsobad/app.bsky.feed.post/3myfhuqjza226https://bsky.app/profile/hanoomansingh.com/post/3mydhrmtdfs24I struggle with some of the real-life conversations I'm having with people: yes, we are in an affordability crisis and yes, people are struggling to make ends meet. However, we are also in a crisis point with multiple public systems (chiefly healthcare, also education). Negative campaigning is always risky. It can work if your opponent is sufficiently unappealing. But it’s not a viable long-term strategy. Voters don’t appreciate a party that doesn’t propose anything #BCpoli [contains quote post or other embedded content]18 Oct 2026 20:35 +0000at://did:plc:trfxovll66637th2fpmsobad/app.bsky.feed.post/3my6hfitbrk2lhttps://bsky.app/profile/hanoomansingh.com/post/3my4ywdkjr22jThere’s another basic fact at play, which is that Sim/ABC couldn’t point to a significant accomplishment from 4 years in office. Regardless of the political leanings of the electorate, that’s a liability. And in that context, a 2-term councilor with good ideas easily becomes a viable alternative. Every essay is from a term where I was taking 3-4 classes because I had time to consider a topic, pore over sources, and write something informative and structured. Even 5 classes was a completionist survival nightmare and I hated it. But big picture, it feels like points dropped for the Whitecaps who are 5W-5L-4D in MLS since the WC. Injuries/availability are a factor, but don't like the odds if they end up 'backing into' the playoffs.
