昔の「花とアリス～」や「惡の華」といったロトスコープのアニメではキャラクターデザインも実写寄りのことが多かったのに対し、本作は等身含めてマンガ的なキャラクターデザインを保っているのが大きいのか、はたまたロトスコープにも関わらずリミテッドアニメとしている点が肝なのか？
