This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

My thoughts so far are to make it a mandatory in-class thing during their work periods (spend the first 1/2 hour on your sketchbook before anything else).
I've also done themed drawing sessions before like "furniture based on sea creatures" and that might make things more interesting.
