This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

turns out, even if you tell android auto to enable unknown sources, it only does so for music apps! messaging and navigation apps are apparently so special they have to be installed from the play store. or you have a rooted phone, like my last device was, and install an xposed module. [2/3]
