This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

seriously this is fucking embarrassing. this is novice stuff and i spotted it immediately despite having never used the fetch api. skimming the docs it looks like if you do this correctly you shouldn't need to set Content-Type by hand either, so doing it right is SHORTER
