This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

I did go back & rewatch the Famicom video after, and in it you complain about the hitboxes in that one as well.
Makes me wonder if they just weren't certain how to handle it on the home ports.
