This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

I think it would make the game feel a bit static.
For a platformer like this, I would opt for free-movement camera with mouse/joystick, or even well placed dynamic cameras that get the right angle depending on which part of the stage the player is currently at
