This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

Just like what Google did with XMPP and their Gmail chat product (was it Hangouts back then yet?). They were all "yay open standards 🥰" until their users were the majority on the network, and then simply stopped federating, and XMPP users suddenly had nobody to talk to.
