This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

in a lot of ways the native toolkit is really nice. out of the box there are tab bars, popovers, dropdown menus, etc. in just over a week i have a skeleton of most of the app.
on the other hand, things that would take two lines of CSS (like changing the font across the app) are actually impossible!
