The giant asterisk to this is that SoftBank contributed $10B, the "$40B" figure is contingent on getting a loan from Mizuho, which isn't guaranteed. SoftBank is only on the hook for $20B if they can't secure a loan, and they've got until sometime in 2026 to sort it out.
