Okay, if you tell kicad to make a 30 degree offset hatch pattern fill with 0.5mm spacing and 0.25mm fills and 0.5mm clearance:
1. it took 2m for my laptop to refill the planes (front and back)
2. you get a super good waffle weave texture that looks like what you get on really fancy duvet covers
