Ethereum (or ETH) is a cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin (BTC).
The main difference is that ETH can be programmed in ways that BTC can't. You can program contracts that force ETH to be used a certain way (this led to NFTs).
ETH also now doesn't use as much power as BTC, as of 2022
