Giant kelp (Laminariaceae: Macrocystis pyrifera) inhabits coastlines in some parts of the world. Although it looks like a plant, it's actually multicellular brown algae. It can grow up to 200 feet in length and has air sacs to keep it upright. Channel Islands National Park, California, 26 Oct 2013.
