This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

The thing about tools that use a 1-dimension vector of characters is that they don't exclude any new options. If we operated everything from ASTs, there are novel things that would become much harder. That said, I'd really rather manipulate an AST directly.
