Based on the carbon budgets from Lamboll et al, updated to Jan 2025, then for a 50% chance of not exceeding 1.5°C, the global reduction rate of CO2 needs to be ~19% year on year. For 2°C, it is nearer 7%. If we follow the NDCs, then by the early 2030s 2°C will be approaching where 1.5°C is today.
