This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

Ended up making a whole data vis for showing the massive number of deaths over the course of the war.
Three.js and canvas rendering 9000+ subtly moving 3D flowers here. Plus a lot of tricks to make it performant across devices.
