This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

I do think this work would benefit from more precision about movement vs gesture, and part of the apparent clash between the referential & oscillatory views resolves when we tease apart foreground vs background gesture (as @kensycoop does here: http://doi.org/10.1075/gest.16.2.02coo)
