This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

But this approach seemed the least painful, and its well worth it for the performance gains we get. The challenge is that we have to parent tools outside of the character to avoid invalidating the fast clusters.
