The RCP8.5 story just seems like good scientific process:
1. we explored a wide scenario space when future warming (emissions & climate sensitivity) was uncertain
2. we focused on high-end cases because damages are nonlinear/tail risks
3. we updated to a narrower scenario space as more data come in
