This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

Either you drive them via SPI and they're laggy to update, or you drive them via parallel IO and they take up all your IO pins, or you use an intermediate graphics chip from e.g. Bridgetek and that introduces a whole host of other problems. Every display is different, documentation is iffy...
