Depends on how strict a definition of RPG you use. A lot of what's listed as RPG are more "action-adventure games in a fantasy setting." And most of the good actual RPGs are on an out of print cart newcomers have a hard time finding.
I'd say there are 8 RPGs total, with only 4 currently in print.
