This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

Imo the Achilles' heel is that stuff the designers didn't anticipate is still hard to build. And you can't fix that with another 1,000 modifiers to anticipate more. Doesn't seem like that's going away.
