Many states that forbid handguns will allow a 12 gauge pump shotgun; 18" barrel & pistol grip if possible. Many experts suggest #00 buckshot; nine 0.33" pellets per shell. I prefer #3 shot, slightly smaller (0.25") pellets but 20 per shell. Either one will fuck up the person who's at the wrong end.
