Inzwischen weiß man, dass CTCF noch unzählige weitere Funktionen erfüllt. In einer Publikation wurde CTCF mal als „Schweizer Taschenmesser“ bezeichnet (https://doi.org/10.1042/EBC20180069), und das trifft es ziemlich gut. Es hat Funktionen als Enhancer, Repressor und bei der 3D-Organisation des Genoms.
