This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

I agree, but I think it's a lot of the chasing the nostalgic feeling from "old Twitter" and seeking validation in ones choice to (finally) move out of "new Twitter".
It'll likely pass ....... eventually.
