This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

And for visual novels audio is a LOT less important than other types of games.
Really you can add audio later once the game is really fleshed out, don't be afraid thinking you have to take on all the hats at once. :D
