Oh, as a student of design and accessibility I can confirm it's a NIGHTMARE.
Just that fact that someone growing up alongside the medium learned on a joystick with 1 button, then a d-pad and 2 buttons, then 3-6 face buttons and two shoulders, etc. with multi-year acclimatization gaps was huge!
