My favorite “proper use of a grocery store in a movie” is the US version of THE GRUDGE.
That scene where Sarah Michelle Gellar is in the grocery store in Japan, feeling increasingly isolated and alone because she can't even do the simple act of shopping, is something felt by every expat in Japan.
